Registration

When does registration for OCBC Cycle 2017 start and end?

Register for any ride, except the Corporate Rides and the competitive rides, at the launch event and receive discounts and prizes from our partners. OCBC Cycle 2017 will be launched at 12pm on 7 July 2017 at orchardgateway. The launch event will end on 8 July 2017. If you are unable to sign up at the launch event, you can sign up online.

 

Registration closes on 31 October 2017 or when all slots are taken up.

Does the registration fee include insurance coverage?

The registration fee includes insurance coverage for the cyclist’s ride on 18 or 19 November 2017. Cyclists aged between 2 to 82 years old will be covered.

 

Benefits Insured Limit Per Insured Person
Death & Permanent Disability (Capital Sum) S$5,000 for any one accident
Medical Expense S$500 for any one accident, maximum of S$1,000 for the insured. Subject to a deductible of S$50 for any one accident

 

If you would like to have more comprehensive insurance coverage, you can choose to upgrade your coverage during the registration process.

What are the payment modes available for registration?

You can pay using a VISA or MasterCard credit/debit card. OCBC card members will get 10% off the registration fees.

How do I register if I am under the age of 21?

If you are under the age of 21, you will need your parent’s or guardian’s consent. Complete the indemnity section found in the online registration form.

How do I know if my registration was completed?

A confirmation slip will be sent to the email address you provided during the registration process.

I did not receive the confirmation slip. What should I do?

You did not receive the confirmation slip for one of the following reasons:

  • You provided an erroneous email address when registering.
  • The email might have been treated as a spam email and diverted to your junk box.

If you still do not receive the confirmation slip after doing so, please email us at enquiry@ocbccycle.com and provide:

  • Name
  • NRIC/passport number

We will reply within three to five working days.

 

Alternatively, you can call us at 6814 0419, between 9:00am to 6:00pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays.

Do I get a refund if I choose not to participate or am unable to make it on the day after registering for the event?

Registration fees are non-refundable.

Can I change categories after I complete my registration?

You cannot switch to another category after completing your registration.

Can I change my event apparel size after I complete my registration?

You cannot change your event apparel size after completing your registration. Please refer to the size chart at the point of registration to choose your preference. Sizes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I get my friend to cycle on my behalf?

No. Registration for OCBC Cycle is non-transferable for safety reasons, ease of identification and contact purposes during an emergency.

Event Day

What are the routes for the various categories?

The routes, subject to approval by the authorities, will be announced closer to event date.

Am I required to have a bicycle to join this event?

Yes. If you do not own a bicycle, you can approach these bicycle rental shops to rent one before the event. The rental fees range from S$25 to S$80. You will have to arrange for your own bicycle transport to the event.

 

Bicycle rental services will not be available at the event venue.

Can I rent a bicycle at the venue on event day?

No, you will not be able to rent one at the venue on event day.

Is there a place where I can store my bicycle before the event?

You can store your bicycle at the bike park before your ride at no charge.

 

17 & 18 November 2017
The overnight bike storage park opens from 10:00am to 9:00pm.

 

19 November 2017
The overnight bike storage park opens from 3:30am to 12noon.

 

While there will be security personnel at the bike park, you are encouraged to secure your bicycle with your own lock.

 

Storage of your bicycle is at your own risk. The Event Organiser and Event Owner will not be liable for any loss or damage to your bicycle.

What bicycles are allowed at the event?

Here are the types of bicycles allowed for the respective categories.

Will bike maintenance services be provided at the event?

Yes. Basic bike maintenance services will be provided at the venue and along the route.

Can I accompany my child during the Mighty Savers® Kids Ride?

For Mighty Savers® Kids Ride (2 – 3 years old) / Mighty Savers® Kids Ride (4 – 5 years old)

You, or another adult, will be allowed to accompany your child on foot during the ride at no cost.

 

For Mighty Savers® Kids Ride (5 – 7 years old)

You can register your child and yourself under the family package so that you can ride alongside your child.

 

For Mighty Savers® Kids Ride (8 – 9 years old)

You can register your child and yourself under the family package so that you can ride alongside your child.

 

For Mighty Savers® Kids Ride (10 – 12 years old)

You can register your child and yourself under the family package so that you can ride alongside your child.

Will my timing be recorded?

Only cyclists riding in The Sportive Ride will have their timings recorded. Timings can be retrieved at www.ocbccycle.com 3 to 5 days after the event.

Do I get to win a prize if I finish first in my category?

For safety reasons, all categories except OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships are non-competitive. Hence, no prizes will be given.

If I miss the flag off time for my category, can I join another category?

You are not allowed to join another category if you miss the flag-off time. This is to ensure a smooth road opening process.

 

You are advised to reach the event site at least 1 hour before the start of your event.

Is there a cut-off time for my ride? What happens if I miss it?

Yes. Cyclists will be diverted if they do not reach certain sections of the route by the stipulated timings.

 

More details regarding the cut-off time and the route diversion plan will be shared closer to the event.

Will I still receive a medal if I miss the cut-off time?

Yes.

Will there be any bag deposit service?

No. Bag deposit services will not be provided.

OCBC Cycle Corporate Rides

What are the various categories available under Corporate Rides?

The Business Times Cycle of Hope Corporate Bike Ride

  • Companies that register under this category will have part of their registration fees donated to charity.
  • Cyclists registered under this category will be provided with event apparel.
  • Companies can sign up for their staff in groups of 5, 10 or 15.

 

The Corporate Bike Ride

  • A lower registration fee as compared to individual sign-ups.
  • Each company must sign up for a minimum number of 15 places.
  • Event apparel will not be provided – companies are encouraged to wear their corporate-branded apparel.

 

OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship

  • A competitive element for companies on 30 September 2017 at the National Stadium.
  • Top 4 teams of the day will proceed to compete in the Championship Final on 18 November 2017 along Stadium Drive.
  • Event apparel will not be provided – cyclists are encouraged to come in their team jerseys.

How do I sign my company up for the Corporate Bike Rides?

You may reserve places for your colleagues using the registration form from 10 July to 29 September 2017.

 

1,050 places for The Sportive Ride and 450 places for The Straits Times Ride are up for grabs on a first-come, first-served basis.

What are the payment modes for registration?

You can pay by cheque. Just mail your cheque to the address listed in the e-invoice.

 

Payment must be made within 5 working days of receiving the e-invoice.

I have paid for my company to sign up. If my employees are not able to complete their registration by the closing date, can they still participate?

Your employees will not be eligible to take part if they do not register by the closing date – 31 October 2017.

Do we get to win any prizes by taking part in the OCBC Cycle Corporate Bike Rides?

If your company takes part in The Corporate Bike Ride category, it will be eligible to compete for the Longest Distance Award.

 

A trophy will be awarded to the company with the longest distance accumulated by its entire staff riding in The Business Times Cycle of Hope Corporate Bike Ride or The Corporate Bike Ride. They must not be disqualified for any reason.

 

If your company takes part in The Business Times Cycle of Hope Corporate Bike Ride, it will be eligible to compete for the Largest Donor Award. The company with the largest donation will receive a plaque.

Will you be providing a delivery or bulk collection service for the event packs?

No delivery or bulk collection service will be provided. However, there will be a dedicated collection counter for companies taking part in the Corporate Bike Ride at the Event Pack Collection.

What are the rides that I can sign up for?

As an individual, you can sign up for either The Sportive Ride or The Straits Times Ride.

 

You can also sign up with your colleagues under your company’s name for The Business Times Cycle of Hope Corporate Bike Ride or The Corporate Bike Ride.

OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship

What is this new category about?

Under the Speedway category, the OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship is a competitive ride where teams ride 20 laps on a 400m course at the National Stadium. The first pair of each team must complete 10 laps before the next pair of cyclists takes off to ride the remaining 10 laps. In the previous editions of OCBC Cycle, the Speedway Championships were open to S.E.A countries and local clubs. We are now opening this category to companies. For details, please click here.

When is the OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship?

It will take place on 30 September 2017 at the National Stadium.

When is the registration for OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship?

Registration is from 10 July 2017 to 15 September 2017.

Who can take part in OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship?

Anyone can take part as long as they are employed by the company that they are representing. However, cyclists are only allowed to represent one team.

Can I take part in both OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championship and OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship?

Yes. You can take part in both.

How many teams can my company register?

Each company can only register a maximum of 2 teams. Any subsequent teams will be placed on a waiting list.

How many riders do I have to register for each team?

Each team will have to register 5 riders for the race. However, only 4 riders will be required to race in each round.

Can the team have a mix of both female and male riders?

Yes. A team can consist of female and male cyclists.

After registering all members in my team, can I change one of my members in my team on a later date?

No. Registrations are strictly non-transferable.

If I am unable to race, can I get my colleague to race on my behalf?

All cyclists must be pre-registered and no replacement is allowed. Failure to comply will result in an immediate disqualification of the team.

If I am eliminated, can I ride on behalf of my other colleagues?

In the event of elimination, cyclists are not allowed to ride on behalf of another team from the same company.

 

For example: Company ABC registers 2 teams – If Team 1 is eliminated, cyclists from Team 1 are not allowed to ride in Team 2.

What are the prizes?

Final Stage:

The top 4 teams of the Final Stage will receive vouchers and proceed to compete in the Championship Final on 18 November 2017. These 4 teams will also get to ride exclusively in the Champions Wave of The Sportive Ride on 19 November 2017 with the national riders who raced in the OCBC Cycle Speedway S.E.A Championship as well as the top 8 teams of the OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championship.

 

OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship Final:

Champion – S$400 and Champions’ jerseys

First Runner-up – S$300

Second Runner-up – S$200

How do I pay for the race?

Will there be a briefing?

There will be a briefing on 23 September 2017. Each team must send at least 1 representative to attend the briefing, or be disqualified from the race. This is because the Speedway Championship is a highly technical race. Understanding the details is critical to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for all riders. The details of the briefing will be finalised closer to date.
