Ride categories

REGISTRATION CLOSED

*Important information for cyclists of all categories:

Early Start: The reporting time for cyclists is 1 hour before the official flag-off time for each category. Based on experiences of many mass sporting events, the 1 hour is needed for participants for security checks and to prepare themselves before the event, as they will find themselves visiting the washroom, finding the way to the starting line, familiarising with the event site, making minor equipment repairs, and taking selfies and pictures along the way. This preparation time has allowed sporting events to start on time. Additional security checks could result in a longer wait time, but the crew will work towards maintaining a maximum of 1-hour wait time.

Waiting Time between Flag Offs: To prevent instances of over-crowding, cyclists are separated into different groups which are flagged off at staggered intervals. The waiting time between each interval allows cyclists in the earlier group to ride off for a certain distance first, preventing the subsequent group of cyclists from merging into the earlier group. This reduces over-crowding which can endanger the cyclists.

Loyal Cyclist Discount: If you took part in the non-competitive rides of OCBC Cycle 2015 or 2016, enjoy a Loyal Cyclist Discount of S$3 off the online registration fee in any non-competitive ride category and in as many non-competitive ride categories. For example, if you participated in The Straits Times Ride previously, and would now like to cycle in The Sportive Ride and The Mighty Savers® Family Ride with a little one, you will get a total discount of S$6! What’s more, you will get a further 10% discount if you make payment with an OCBC credit/debit card.

The Loyal Cyclist Discount is applied automatically when you sign up online. However, there are 2 situations where you need to write to us at enquiry@ocbccycle.com for a promotional code to enjoy the Loyal Cyclist Discount:

  • If you had signed up with a child previously in the Mighty Savers® Family Ride and would now like to sign up for The Straits Times Ride or The Sportive Ride this year.
  • If you had signed up with a child previously in the Mighty Savers® Family Ride and would now like to take part again in the Mighty Savers® Family Ride with a different child.

COMPETITIVE

OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championship

The OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championship is a thrilling category – a first in Singapore and possibly in the world – since OCBC Cycle 2015. It is catered exclusively for Singapore cycling clubs.

As this is a highly technical and fast race, for the safety of all riders, the clubs are to ensure that cyclists who are chosen to race possess the ability and skills required to compete proficiently.

The 4 cyclists in each team will ride a total of 10 laps in pairs around a flat 1-kilometre course along Stadium Drive. 2 cyclists will first ride 5 laps before passing their wristbands to the other 2 cyclists to ride the remaining 5 laps. There will be 3 rounds of races – the qualifying round, the semi-finals and the finals. In the qualifying round, the top 2 teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals, making a total of 6 teams. From the remaining teams across the groups, we will select 2 teams with the best timings to also move on to the semi-finals to compete. There will therefore be a total of 8 teams racing in the semi-finals. The 8 teams will be split into 2 groups – the top 2 teams in each group will proceed to the finals. Similarly, a team with the best timing among the remaining teams in both groups will also move on to race in the finals. There will be 5 teams competing to be crowned the OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Champion for the year.
